Recent research at UC Berkeley found that married couples who refer to themselves as “we” or “us” have healthier relationships.
Researchers analysed conversations between 154 middle aged and older couples about disagreements in their marriages and found that those who used “we,” “our” and “us” were more positive towards each other and showed less physiological stress.
Couples who maintained their individualism and use “I”, “you” and “me” a lot suffered more stress and were less satisfied with their relationship.
